Patient Spotlight – James Bailey
It takes a lot of courage and determination to standup in the face of adversity. What about when the adversity you face is that of a diagnosis of chronic condition over which you feel powerless? That is exactly the future James faced in 2007 when he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Staring in the face of what everyone tells you is a dismal future filled with pain, loss of feeling and declining physical ability can make you feel hopeless and helpless.
After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and seeing one medical professional after another, James felt that he was being solely defined by his Multiple Sclerosis. James felt like any symptom or ailment he experienced was always met with, “Oh, that’s just part of your Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis,” as if he should simply resign himself to a life of misery and pain. In pursuit of some glimmer of hope, James turned to NJ Spine and Wellness where our team of professionals not only heard, but truly listened to how James felt, what he was experiencing on a day-to-day basis, and how his body was currently stopping him from doing the things he wanted and being the man he knew he was, not just Multiple Sclerosis. Through our holistic approach to not only address pain but also improve function, James is no longer powerless over his diagnosis and is able to live the life he wants, including activities like golfing & running, and he is even training with us for MuckFest, an annual physical agility obstacle course event.
